- First: DESPITE OPPOSITION BY NJ PARENTS SWEENEY REFUSES TO LISTEN
- Second: SWEENEY IS GETTING INVOLVED IN SOME QUESTIONABLE CONSTRUCTION WORK.
STEPHEN SWEENEY IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT IS WRONG WITH NEW JERSEY TODAY – HE NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM PUBLIC OFFICE.
APPARENTLY SWEENEY REMAINS ONE OF THE FEW SUPPORTERS OF PARCC TESTING (aka Common Core Criteria)
The Below was reprinted for NJ.com:
Schools don’t need reforms like PARCC, Sens. Sarlo and Sweeney’s construction ties
SWEENEY WILL PROBABLY BENEFIT FROM HIS RECOMMENDED CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
Projects called for by Sens. Sweeney and Sarlo could benefit their construction ties
Last August, Sen. Stephen M. Sweeney (D-Gloucester) kicked off his “Transportation Trust Fund” campaign, saying New Jersey’s roads and bridges were falling down. Then, at a news conference on March 17, Sen. Sweeney demanded a new Hudson River rail tunnel.
It was reported that Sen. Paul A.Sarlo (D-Bergen) warned that if commissioners are unwilling to come up with a plan to sell off properties to fund new tunnels, they shouldn’t be on the Port Authority board any more.
Sen. Sarlo is C.O.O. of Joseph M. Sanzari, Inc., a construction company that works on transportation projects. Sen. Sweeney is a vice president of the International Association of Ironworkers.
Sweeney stated these projects will create needed jobs, but didn’t say for whom. I don’t work with a shovel, but it would seem that Sarlo’s employer and Sweeney’s union could gain from such a project.
Respectfully, I see two construction guys wearing senator suits who are putting their interests above those of the state and its residents.
